Grant Awarded for Doctorate Studies
Camille James, our Grade 7 math teacher in 2017-18, was awarded the Borgen Family Fellowship which provides a grant to pursue a doctorate degree in curriculum, instruction and assessment. This field of study is designed for educators aspiring to be curriculum experts who can make a positive impact on student achievement. Camille studies at Walden University, where she says “scholars are inspired to become transformational leaders.”
During the course of her degree plan, Camille is gaining expertise in the latest research and best practices in learner-centered curriculum, instructional strategies, effective teaching, student assessment, program evaluation and teacher professional development.
The Borgen Family Fellowship was established in 2015 by the Borgen Family Foundation, Jon-Erik Borgen ‘92 and Brooke Borgen. Recognizing the role that educators play in the success and development of students, the Borgen endowment is used to increase faculty expertise, expand thinking skills, support growth mindsets and keep motivations high. Each year, one or more educators may be selected as a Borgen Faculty Fellow to pursue advanced degrees.
